Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions, and it’s completely normal to want clarity before beginning your journey. Below are some of the most common questions we receive from new and existing clients. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to contact us — we’re happy to help!

I offer therapy for individuals, teens, couples, and families. My services are designed to support your mental, emotional, and relational well-being.

Individual and Couples Sessions are scheduled for 50 minute.

Sessions are held over Zoom. An invitation is sent closer to the appointment time.

 

A typical therapy session lasts about 50 minutes. Some specialized sessions may vary in length.

The following approaches are used in my clinical practice depending on the need of the client. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Motivational Interviewing Brief Solution Focused Therapy Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Narrative Therapy Yoga and Mindfulness Based Therapy Gottman Method Cognitive Processing Therapy

Cancellations can be made 48 hours prior to the session by declining the invitation or sending an email. If the cancellation notice is less than 48 hours, a charge of half the session rate is applied to the account.

 

The first session is important to build rapport, understand the counselling process, review limits of confidentiality, assess needs, identity goals and see a direction on how to work together.

Payment is due at the end of each session via e-transfer. A receipt is provided for insurance reimbursement and income tax services.

​It is the responsibility of the client to inquire if fees qualify for reimbursement under extended insurance plans such as Blue Cross, Sun Life, Great West Life, and other third party plans that cover psychological services. Individuals not covered by insurance plans may be able to deduct fee for services provided by a Psychotherapist from their income tax.
